Services to Businesses

Employee Care Management

Clarity provides Counselling and Support Services to Businesses, in order to enable effective management and control of stress, sickness, absence and performance in the workplace.

In the UK it is estimated that work-related stress is now responsible for 6 million days of sick leave a year, with stress and anxiety being linked to many physical illnesses. For most of us, work is a significant and meaningful part of life with most of us spending over 25% of our adult lives working. Whilst work can provide structure, purpose, satisfaction, self esteem and spending power, the workplace can also be a setting for stress and worry.

All employers have a duty of care to provide for the emotional and psychological well being of staff, particularly those working in stressful environments. Recent litigation and changes in Employment and Human Rights Law make every employer responsible for the health of their staff. Many are now considering the provision of Employee Assistance Programmes to protect their staff.

A major recent study by Professor John McLeod of University of Abertay, Dundee, shows how employee support and counselling services can reduce levels of stress in the workplace by more than 50%. After workplace counselling, employees in a study of 16 companies providing Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) reported:
• Levels of work-related stress and associated anxiety or depression returned to the normal range for more than 50% of all staff.
• Levels of sickness & absence also fell by between 25-50%.
• Levels of job commitment and satisfaction rose significantly.
• Levels of substance and alcohol abuse fell significantly.
